Recent Activity In the Kearney Public Schools elementary schools, vocal music is taught twice per week and every other friday. String instruments are an option for fifth grade students. Concerts are held annually.
In the middle schools, one music class is required in the 6th and 7th grade. Students have the opportunity to select from vocal music, band, or orchestra. These classes are held every other day. In 8th grade, students may elect to take a vocal music, band, or orchestra class which meets everyday. Concerts are held throughout the year.
At Kearney High School, the band, vocal music, and orchestra programs are strong and have seen great success in local, state, and national contests. Music is an elective at the high school. Concerts and competitions are held throughout the year.
